If we fail - we lose this lovely critter... !!!!!!

Her fate is in our hands (again) at this last throw of the dice. Lets pull together and get 558 back for 2010 !!!!!!!

Such a shame it's always last minute. Doesn't matter how many times I see her fly, that damn grit still gets in my eyes.

I'm left wondering if they'll commit with what they have so far, or look at the bigger picture and see that it is an effort to raise £200k, let alone making the whole £800k and call it a day.

We have always been told that in order to continue with the project the Trustees must feel it is achievable and WORTH going forward!

I for one hope they don't call it a day. Seeing the Vulcan fly is my only priority, regardless of the arguments about management, the running of the club, etc etc.
This is my sig:

I hope it's not too inflammatory and I hope that certain people wont completely misunderstand it like they did with the last one.

But the project can't move forward without those problems being sorted!

Like I said, I just want to see a flying Vulcan. I'll leave the politics to you lot. ;)

The things which have lead to this turn of
events are not of a Political nature. There
are serious deficiencies which must be
addressed in order that 558 may live-out
her useful life on the display circuit without
being plagued with what has become a
continual and ongoing exercise in Disaster
Management.

XH558's current situation has nothing to do
with Politics and everything to do with
proper Management.

Totally agree with the sentiment, D4th.

Can I add four words to your last paragraph in the interests of clarity - XH558's current situation has nothing to do with Politics and everything to do with a complete lack of proper Management.

IF they pull it off (again) then this MUST be the last time this last ditch method is used.

Assuming that the green light is given then there MUST be a substantial plan in place for the START on the season. This is really the only hope to secure 2011.......... get the money together in the bank by October 2010.
Then do it all over again for each proposed flying season.

The old ticker can't stand this sort of stress for much longer.

I feel that you are PREACHING to the CONVERTED on THIS Forum, but getting the VULCAN Hierarchy to understand and IMPLEMENT what you suggest would be rather MORE difficult! :-o

Looks like one of three things will happen:-

1. A last-minute miracle occurs.
2. A brave leap of faith by the VTST and its current backers to soldier on (then number 1. happens later on).
3. They call time on the VTST (not necessarily the end for 558 though).

Regarding 'politics', really every one is talking about the same thing but with different words. Politics, schmolitics, management. Whatever you call it it's the stuff going on (or not) within the Trust, not the flying. Like Air, my priority right now is to keep 558 airworthy, whatever it takes. At the moment, this requires just over £600K, which isn't looking likely at the current rate.

Admitedly - the current state of fundraising/donations are a shortfall of the anticipated target of £200k by end of month :(

I know we have all been in this predicament before... and yeah - it wears a bit thin after a while. Club members too often bear the brunt of 'lasp gasp' funding to save 558.

Having said that - I refuse failure and personally will NOT give up on her - nor the dedicated engineers/aircrew who have bust a gut to get 558 to display during 2009. We owe them guys big time !!

So - with our help and a bit more determination - lets help pull the rabbit from the hat (again). I know not 'all' are in the same frame of mind - that is thier rightful perogative and I respect that. This post is NOT mean't as a guilt trip nor none intended.

The fat lady has not sung yet for me for me personally... ;)

(Though I still want to know what part (if any) Bruce Dickinson has played in this latest appeal ?)

Christmas was always going to be slow for fundraising. Can't help notice how quiet it is across the road - although I suppose a lot of folks are still on holiday.
